Brace yourself for the cutest pup who will steal your heart over and over again. I am so excited to have finally found time to blog about my favorite puppy.
For over a year I talked about getting another dog. I did a ton of research on different breeds, and breeders and also spent a lot of time presuading my parents into letting me get another dog. (We all knew our last dog, Sugar would not be replaced.) After months and months of persuading I finally gave up on the fact of getting another dog because my parents would not budge.
Little did I know what my parents had up their sleeves. Christmas morning rolls around. We just finished opening our gifts as a family, and as I am cleaning up the mess of wrapping paper, and boxes my dad stops us and says he has one more surprise. Every Christmas we always have a surprise hidden somewhere from Santa. This year my surprise was a puppy. I was SO happy. My parents gave me a note and a few puppy toys and explained to me I had to pick the dog out because they had no idea what I wanted or where to find it.
FINALLY MY CONSTANT PERSUADING WORKED.
Thanks to my prior research I knew I wanted a Cavapoo-a King Charles Cavalier mixed with a poodle, but finding a good breeder for this particular breed was extremely difficult.
Phone call after phone call I finally found a breeder in Indiana who recently had a litter of Cavapoos. After our Phone call Matt sent me pictures after picture, and videos after video of the litter each week, so I could decide which one I wanted. (I am pretty sure Matt got so tired of me asking for puppy pictures. It was so hard to choose because I wanted all of them.)
Gus was the little guy I had my eye on. He was the one with the most markings and was the smallest out of his brother and sisters. Gus won my heart over and I decided to name him Mason Gus.
Mason Gus was born on 12/09/2015 in Indiana, so we had to wait to him to turn 10 weeks old before they would let him leave his mother. Mason turned 10 weeks old the weekend of Valentines Day.
Finally, Valentine’s Day rolled around and we headed out on a Road Trip to pickup Mason! It was so much fun with beautiful sights to see. Mountains covered in snow, and so much more.
We finally arrived in Indiana where we meet Matt, his family, AND Mason Gus. Mason was so tiny, he only weighed 3lbs.
We were also able to meet Mason’s mom, dad, and siblings (one of which was headed to Raleigh.) The family sent Mason home with a bag of food, blanket, and toy. After spending sometime playing we hit the road because they were calling for a bad snow storm and it had started snowing hard. The last thing we wanted to do was get stuck in a bad snow storm, so we headed home.
Mason did so good in the car for the road trip home!!! We snuck him into the hotel, and Panera Bread! 🙈
I am so excited to have him home and he has already had some wonderful adventures. The images below are of the first couple months of having him home, which include Easter and his first trip to the beach!!
Enjoy his cuteness. Mason is now 5lbs and is all puppy, full of fluff and energy…ready for the next adventure. There is never a dull moment.
